Kiel: Die Hörn
This urban design project was developed by A. Kölsch (Hamburg, Germany) and J. Bouchain (Stadtkreation) in an urban design class held by Prof. Dott. Arch. Fusi at the TU Hamburg-Harburg (now HCU) in 2003. A dense building structure forms a new connection of the eastern and the western part of the city. U-shaped buildings at the eastern side of the central station lean over the "Hörn", the southern edge of the Kiel fjord. The planned "Kai City" at the eastside of the Hörn was integrated into the project and in the east, at the site of a former dockyard that was cut into the hillside, a roof park on top of the residential and office buildings continues the upper topographical level and interlaces the different spatial layers.
