Конюшенная площадь
This project was elaborated during an urban design workshop of Saint‑Petersburg State University, TU Braunschweig and HCU Hamburg in June 2006, Saint‑Petersburg. The Конюшенная площадь (Horse stable square) is a site with high patrimonial values, close to Hermitage, Blood Cathedral, Nevskiy Prospekt and Summer Garden. The building structure including church and former stables has an inspiring "genius loci". Today it is partly unused and contaminated due to a former gas station. The concept "Urban Dialogues" proposes a place for interaction between the city and its citizens, including a public communication centre, an exhibition hall, shops, cafés and a Start Up Center.
