Light Rail Qualities
This project is a summary of the diploma thesis at the HafenCity University Hamburg that the author of Stadtkreation finished in January 2008. The project is titled "Stadtbahnqualitäten" (Light Rail Qualities) and presents various characteristics of this urban transit mode with a great influence on urban public space. The motivation for this work was the so called "Renaissance of tramways" with good examples in France and the "old" image of this transportation system that many politicians and planners still have in mind. Light Rails systems are, in fact, a sustainable public transportation mode with a particular function in urban transit. See www.stadtbahnqualitaeten.de (German).
